He was born and raised in Alton, Illinois – a historic Mississippi River town near St. Louis, Missouri.

To continue his passion for history and architecture he created Neighborhood Architecture to share his artwork of historic buildings in Charlotte neighborhoods – some still here, and some lost.

Through his professional and personal experiences working in the Charlotte community John is connecting the past with the present through art and education.

A note of gratitude

A friend who became one of my mentors in the arts was Derrick Brown, a tremendously talented artist who specialized in musical art. We were colleagues at the City of Charlotte and soon became friends after we shared our appreciation for the arts. Rest in Power D. (3.7.11)
